Dr. Naomi Sever
Sever photoDr. Naomi Sever grew up in a small town, Ashland, located in Southern Oregon. From there she crossed the country and attended Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts for her undergraduate education in Biology and Women’s Studies. She explored a career in pharmaceutical and then dental supply sales prior to returning to dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Since her dental school graduation in 2011 Dr. Naomi has made continuing education and volunteer work a priority. She has done a fellowship in implant placement and restoration, education on sleep apnea, Botox and fillers, and continually stays up to date on the newest and most effective products and technologies. She will become a Fellow with the Academy of General Dentistry in 2017, which requires over 500 hours of continuing education in a variety of subjects. In addition to her love of learning, she feels it is important to give back to underserved populations and spent her first years after dental school at a community health clinic in rural Kansas. After the move to private practice she still participates with volunteer events such as Colorado Mission of Mercy, which is where she met Drs. Bishop and Takemoto.

For the past four years Dr. Naomi was in private practice as an associate dentist in Colorado Springs and she takes great pride in the relationships she developed with her patients in that time. She is thrilled to be a practice owner and for the opportunity to learn from Drs. Bishop and Takemoto. She strives to continue the office tradition of quality dentistry in a caring, sharing environment ensuring growth for all involved.

Dr. Naomi lives in Boulder and, like a lot of people here, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking with her dog, and doing the occasional Ironman triathlon. She also loves travel, cooking, and other adventures.

Dr. John Bishop
Bishop photoDr. Bishop is originally from Arizona where he graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a dual degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology. He then attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1981.

He has been in Boulder since 1983 and continues to love what he does. A life-long student, Dr. Bishop has always stayed abreast of the latest in Dental Techniques, and attends 50-100 hours of continuing education each year. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and recently completed a residency in placing dental implants. His office strives to stay abreast of the changes in dental techniques and technologies.

“I love to learn and consider this one of the keys to practicing consistent, great quality dentistry.”

Dr. Bishop was a ski bum in a previous life and is still very active in the outdoors. His hobbies are hiking, biking, fly-fishing, playing golf and whitewater rafting. (He rowed his own boat down the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago for his 50th.)

Dr. Bishop is a member of the American and Colorado Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, The Nature Conservancy and Trout Unlimited. (He is a past president of the Boulder Flycasters of TU.)

He lives in Boulder near Chautauqua Park with his wife and partner, Dr. Susan Takemoto, and their two English Cocker spaniels, Kalai and Kaika.

Dr. Susan Takemoto
Takemoto photoDr. Takemoto was born and raised on the Hilo side of Hawaii's Big Island. She earned a BS in Biology and a BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaii. She then attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, where she also met husband and partner, Dr. John Bishop. Following graduation, Dr. Takemoto taught at the USC Dental School’s Restorative Department before starting practice in Boulder in 1983. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and recently completed a residency in placing dental implants.

“Dentistry has been such an enjoyable profession for me. I enjoy the art of dentistry as well as the technical side — so John and I both make it a point to constantly update our knowledge of new dental techniques, materials, and methods through continuing education.

“I get such great joy in seeing our patients’ satisfaction when, for example, they attain optimal dental health or see beautiful cosmetic changes in their smiles. But I have to say that what truly energizes me is my relationship with my patients — knowing that I have taken care of their dental health, watching them grow, and growing older with them.”

Dr. Takemoto has many hobbies and interests including a great shared enjoyment of the outdoors with her husband through fishing, rafting, skiing, cycling and hiking with their dogs. She also enjoys playing Mah Jong, traveling, movies, and music.

She lives in Boulder near Chautauqua Park with her husband and partner, Dr. John Bishop, and their two English Cocker Spaniels, Kalai and Kaika.
