DRs. John Bishop and Susan Takemoto
Drs. Bishop and Takemoto proudly served the Boulder community for over 30 years. Dr. Naomi Sever purchased the practice mid-2016 and Drs. Bishop and Takemoto continued to work in the office for the next year to allow continuity of care for patients and pass along their knowledge and love of dentistry. As of July 2017 they entered full-time retirement in order to do the many other things they love.
The practice was founded on principles of extraordinary patient care and high quality dentistry. We strive to continue these values and exceed our patients expectations. For our existing family of patients you will continue to see familiar faces, and for our new patients you can expect a dedicated, skilled team to take care of you. We look forward to continued growth and working in the Boulder community.
Below is a short description of Drs. Bishop and Takemoto and their values of dental treatment that we strive to maintain.
Meet Dr. Bishop
Dr. Bishop is originally from Arizona where he graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a dual degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology. He then attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1981.
He has been in Boulder since 1983 and continues to love what he does. A life-long student, Dr. Bishop has always stayed abreast of the latest in Dental Techniques, and attends 50-100 hours of continuing education each year. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and recently completed a residency in placing dental implants. His office strives to stay abreast of “I love to learn and consider this one of the keys to practicing consistent, great quality dentistry.”
Meet Dr. Takemoto
Dr. Takemoto was born and raised on the Hilo side of Hawaii’s Big Island. She earned a BS in Biology and a BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaii. She then attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, where she also met husband and partner, Dr. John Bishop. Following graduation, Dr. Takemoto taught at the USC Dental School’s Restorative Department before starting practice in Boulder in 1983. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and recently completed a residency in placing dental implants.
“Dentistry has been such an enjoyable profession for me. I enjoy the art of dentistry as well as the technical side — so John and I both make it a point to constantly update our knowledge of new dental techniques, materials, and methods through continuing education.
“I get such great joy in seeing our patients’ satisfaction when, for example, they attain optimal dental health or see beautiful cosmetic changes in their smiles. But I have to say that what truly energizes me is my relationship with my patients — knowing that I have taken care of their dental health, watching them grow, and growing older with them.”
